If you can carry a tune and have a desire to comfort people who are ill or dying, you are needed to join the Threshold Choir of Lebanon, Ohio. Members of the Threshold Choir go to the bedside of ill or dying people and sing comforting songs. The songs are spiritual, but not from any particular religion.
A requirement for membership would be to attend meetings and volunteer to sit at the bedside with two other choir members to sing at least once a month. There would also be initial training. The rehersals are every Tuesday from 7 PM to 8:30 PM in the Porkolab Room at Otterbein.in the LEC building. We will be going to twice a month meetings.
There is a website for the Threshold Choir (https://thresholdchoir.org/) and several youtube videos that show members of the Threshold Choir singing. Threshold Choir is an international organization with over 150 choir groups.
If you are drawn to this way of serving seriously ill people, please contact us for more information.. Also, if you need directions, we will be happy to tell you how to get to our meeting.

About Otterbein Hospice

Mission Statement
In keeping with our United Methodist tradition, we seek to enhance the quality of life and holistic growth of older persons.
Description
We have an emotional bond with our Otterbein residents. We’d like it to remain unbroken. That’s why we’ve developed a hospice care ministry. Should any of our Otterbein family decide not to pursue aggressive medical care at the end of life, we want to be their hospice caregivers. Sending them somewhere else at the most important spiritual phase of life doesn’t sit well with us. Their life is here. We want to be with them at the end of it.
We plan to be physically, emotionally and spiritually present to our elders and their loved ones. Our hospice nurses will be responsive, sharing care options, and ensuring comfort. Our social workers and chaplains will be there with loving guidance. And our elders will be at home, in every sense of the word.
