You are invited to share in the sacred work of being with dying. Those of us who work in hospice learn to look more closely rather than away, to touch rather than withdraw, to allow the process to unfold rather than assert an agenda. Hospice companion volunteering is an opportunity to deepen your awareness of the healing presence we each have available to share in each moment, this moment, the only moment we truly have.
Spend 2 hours a week visiting a patient in their home. Weekly visits are extremely flexible and we assign you to a patient/family closest to where you live. We serve patients living in Woodburn, Newberg, Aurora, Wilsonville, Canby and many other communities.
- The next volunteer training, comprised of 3 sessions, is scheduled for February 3rd, 4th, and 11th.
- These sessions will be held at our home office in Tigard.
- Your patient visits will be in your Woodburn community.
Volunteer roles include: companion volunteer, vigil volunteer, bereavement volunteer, musician volunteer, pet-assisted volunteer, massage therapy volunteer, aroma therapy volunteer and more.
