Heartand Hospice is looking for caring and dedicated people with an interest in serving patients and their families in Baltimore City. Volunteers serve a vital role for our patients and are rewarded with the knowledge that what they do makes a difference.

Heartland Hospice trains volunteers to spend time with hospice patients in the context of friendly visits. You would be sitting with our patients, being an ear to listen. You visiting the patients brighten their day and show them that there are people that care about them.

You decide your visit schedule and location of service and we'll support you with individualized mentoring. If you have a heart for this work you can do it. Join our team today!

Mission Statement

The mission of Heartland Hospice is to provide quality hospice care to patientse with a limited life expectancy, as well as support to their caregivers. The quality of life for those we serve is enhanced through specialized supportive care designed to meet the needs of the body, mind and spirit. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team consisting of the Medical Director, Registered Nurse, Health Aide, Social Worker,Chaplain and Volunteers. Heartland Hospice strives to provide care to all who are eligible and need hospice care regardless of ability to pay.

Description

Volunteers offer services in both our office setting and in the field directly engaging with patients and families.

A multitude of our volunteers provide emotional & spiritual support through friendly visits patients within their homes or care facilities. These volunteers offer compassionate companionship, advocacy and outreach to patients and families through conversation, reading, relief sitting, letter writing, running errands, assistance with hobbies, music enrichment and art and other forms of sensory stimulation. Another volunteer opportunity includes sitting vigil with patients who are actively dying and who have no family present with them.

Volunteers serve in Baltimore City & County, Anne Arundel, Howard and Harford Counties.
