Would you like to bring solar-powered lights to a place of worship or school nearby? We ask your help, as a volunteer, to staff a table at a mosque, church, synagogue, temple, school or university. If you are in the SF Bay Area, we'll join you (or come join us). If you are further away let's talk by phone to develop a plan and we'll send you what you need to host a table at your place of worship.
With volunteer help, we're selling solar-powered Luci Lights and collecting donations to Brighten the Future of Gaza's Children. Due to recurring power outages, children in Gaza have only a few hours of electricity each day. Rebuilding Alliance is working with Non-Governmental Organizations in Gaza to send solar-powered Luci Lights to children and famiiies in need.
Rebuilding Alliance is looking for volunteers who will help us staff tables in various locations throughout the week and weekend. We usually go to mosques every Friday to set-up our table during Jumaa prayer. We have lots of success - the project really touches hearts and makes a difference, so we hope to expand, with your help, to offer this opportunity far and wide, to all who care about children and peace.
The ideal volunteer* would be gregarious, polite, dependable, and passionate about children, the environment and about ending the blockade of Gaza. Please reply by email to Tamsin with a cover letter telling us about yourself and describing how you would like to bring this project forward in your community, or just ask when you can next join us at one of the tabling times already scheduled.
If you would like to invite your friends to join us, please do. We've found it quite wonderful and effective when groups of 4-6 volunteer.
This is a good opportunity to get to know people of other faiths, as you need not be a member at the place of worship we visit. Please note, you may be asked to dress according to a dress code, depending on where you will be staffing a table.

About Rebuilding Alliance
Location:
50 Woodside Plaza Ste. 627, Redwood City, CA 94061, US
Mission Statement
Rebuilding Alliance is dedicated to advancing equal rights for the Palestinian people through education, advocacy, and support that assures Palestinian families the right to a home, schooling, economic security, safety, and a promising future.
Description
We learned early-on that to build in war-torn communities one must partner locally with non-governmental organizations that hold the trust of the local community and maintain the highest standards of fiscal and personal integrity.
Everyone who works at Rebuilding Alliance is committed to building peace and justice through programs that make a tangible difference and together, we do our best to make RA a great place to work. Many who have joined RA as interns or in entry-level jobs have gone on to their dream-job or pursued advanced degrees.
One of our past interns wrote the following:
"I always talk about interning with Rebuilding Alliance as one of my most important, challenging and formative work experiences, especially when I'm in interviews. You asked and expected big things of me right away, and I'm so grateful for that - coordinating a teleconference series, making phone calls to important peacekeepers, offering insights in team meetings, updating our internet presence. These are skills that I value so highly, and that I'm sure will be so important as I enter this industry that is entirely new to me. I would also like to stay in touch with you and Rebuilding Alliance and help in any way I can in the coming years, whether through donations or volunteering my time when I'm back in the Bay Area."
