If you’re patient, friendly, and interested in helping refugees in the Nashville community, Catholic Charities Refugee and Immigration Services wants you! Volunteer as an assistant with our Elders Program and help our senior refugees get mobile and explore their new home. Many of our refugee elders don’t have access to transportation, which can leave them vulnerable to social isolation. By taking them to weekly outings, activities, and citizenship classes, you can give them the community, education, and socialization they may not have at all otherwise. This is a perfect opportunity to build cross-cultural relationships and to share what you love about your community and country. Our Activity Day is on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Citizenship classes are on Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This is a very flexible position. You must have reliable means of transportation (and insurance). Please contact our volunteer coordinator for more information: ccvolunteer@cctenn.org; (615) 352-3087 Please see full description here: http://cctenn.org/volunteeropportunitydetails.cfm?eid=16070716454269320
