Learn about other cultures and share what you love about Nashville, while helping an elder member of our refugee community navigate his/her new home. As an "American Friend" volunteer with Catholic Charities Refugee and Immigration services, you’ll build a friendly, supportive one-on-one relationship with a senior refugee, practice English with them, and teach them basic life skills and cultural expectations. By exploring your home through the eyes of a new American, you can gain a more meaningful conception of national and local citizenship and foster cross-cultural dialogue. This volunteer position is flexible, though we do ask for an initial 6 month commitment. Email or call our volunteer coordinator for more information: ccvolunteer@cctenn.org; (615) 352-3087.
