ORGANIZATION: Plymouth Healing Communities

Plymouth Healing Communities is seeking a qualified gardener or landscaping specialist to coordinate and supervise basic garden maintenance as well as seasonal garden design and plantings at each of our facilities: two houses and two small apartment buildings located in West Seattle, Beacon Hill and Central District. There is no lawn mowing or heavy equipment operation involved and tools will be provided. Days and times are flexible and weather dependent.

Plymouth Healing Communities provides community, companionship, and housing, both temporary and permanent, to individuals living with mental illness who have been homeless or are at risk of homelessness due to their illness experience. Companionship is what makes our organization unique. Every individual in our program has the opportunity to meet one on one or within a group setting with a companion who offers emotional and psychosocial support, while still receiving more direct mental health services from our partner agency. We offer a warm, safe place where both residents and companions can pause, reflect and consider their next step in life. Our homes and apartments, situated in neighborhoods, help to de-stigmatize mental illness and create communities that are less fearful and more complete.

About Plymouth Healing Communities

Mission Statement

Plymouth Healing Communities works to break the cycle of hospitalization for mental health and homelessness by providing supportive small-scale transitional and permanent housing in Seattle.

Description

We have a transitional home (house of healing) where people recently released from inpatient care can land for a safe and nonlinear support structure. We also have 6 other small permanent housing located throughout Seattle to give people access to all the benefits of living in areas such as Ballard and Beacon Hill. We rely heavily on our Companions, our main nonlinear, supportive program for residents, to provide the key ingredients in restoring a sense of belonging for residents in all of our housing!
