NKF serving Central Ohio will be partnering with the Nationwide Children's Columbus Marathon at the Annual EXPO on *Friday,10/14 from 12pm-7pm and Saturday, 10/15 from 9am-6pm at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in downtown Columbus. This is a premium opportunity to serve our community and #FightCKD by offering free kidney screenings. Over 60,000 attendees are expected and our goal is to screen over 300-500 participants! This will not be possible without special volunteers like YOU!

We will need volunteer coverage on both days, so please feel free to sign up for multiple shifts if you can. General and technical volunteers are needed to help with registration, Body Mass Index, blood pressures, urinalysis, clinician consultation, evaluation/exit survey, nutrition information, NKF resource information and floaters. (Technical volunteers-some medical background is preferred, i.e, nursing students/professionals, medical assistants or professionals, etc)

Please share with anyone interested in volunteering! We are looking forward to a very successful event! Sign up at www.volunteersignup.org/KCMJX

About The National Kidney Foundation Serving Ohio

Location:

2800 Corporate Exchange Drive, Suite 215, Columbus, OH 43231, US

Mission Statement

The National Kidney Foundation (NKF), a major voluntary non-profit health organization, is dedicated to preventing kidney and urinary tract diseases, improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by these diseases and increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation. The National Kidney Foundation achieves life-saving results through the generous contributions of individuals and organizations in the communities which it serves.

Description

Our goal is to ensure that the National Kidney Foundation’s resources are easily available to all those who need them. We will create an appropriate sense of urgency around kidney health by raising awareness among the 73 million individuals that are at risk for kidney disease. Kidney disease should occupy center stage in the public consciousness so that all are aware of the risk factors, how to manage those factors, who is at highest risk, and who they can turn to for resources and information. We will reach those at risk before kidney disease occurs, and impact those in earliest stages so that the progression to kidney failure is no longer inevitable. We will help people to understand the risk factors associated with kidney disease, and to learn how to manage them. We will ensure that practitioners are equipped with latest screening and management information, so that they know which tests to use, how to recognize early stage patients, and how to treat early stage disease. We will promote awareness regarding the importance of finding kidney disease early and initiating treatment to slow progression.
