The Cooking Coaches program provides opportunities for community members through a series of hands-on cooking classes that teach healthy cooking skills and the connection between food choices and health. Cooking classes focus on healthy meal preparation that includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes. Live Healthy Appalachia offers these classes to community groups and individuals in Athens and Hocking Counties.

As a Cooking Coach, you will be an advocate for nutritious, budget-friendly food options. You will help provide community members with access to cooking education, which includes meal planning, nutrition basics, and various cooking techniques.

Cooking Coaches work directly with community members throughout Athens and Hocking Counties to lead cooking classes and workshops. Classes and workshops are led by a Cooking Coach team of two to do the following:

  • Leading participants through LHA’s healthy cooking curriculum

  • Engaging with adults of all socioeconomic backgrounds

  • Developing positive relationships with nutritious meal options

  • Assisting with program evaluation

  • Helping with recruitment of program participants
