The Super Reader party invitation is earned by children who read 600 minutes or more during the Reading Marathon held in November. The party is put together by KUED and about 15 other partners including libraries, Natural History Museum, Gateway Children's Museum, etc. There is live music and performances, a lot of the PBS kids shows character mascots are there. It is a lot of fun! Join us!
We will be doing a photobooth, a craft station to create photobooth props, and a matching game. We need 2 volunteers at each station. Volunteers receive lunch!
Event is held on January 28th from 9:30AM to 2:30PM

Mission Statement
The mission of Utah Community Action is to empower individuals, strengthen families and build communities through self-sufficiency and education programs.
Description
Utah Community Action is a multi-faceted agency that helps low-income individuals and families overcome barriers to self-sufficiency. Utah Community Action helps remove these barriers through six core programs.
Head Start is a comprehensive early childhood development program serving low-income children from age three to five and their families. Head Start is a Federal program that is operated by local non-profit organizations such as Utah Community Action. Children who attend Head Start participate in a variety of educational activities including literacy, language, science, social-emotional, and much more. They also receive medical and dental services, have healthy meals and snacks, and enjoy playing safely indoors and outdoors.
In addition to the educational services provided by Head Start, family involvement is at the core of its success. Head Start families can take part in the classroom as a volunteer, help with classroom projects, and even help develop curriculum. Elected family members take part in our Policy Council, a board that partners with staff members in decision-making responsibilities for the program. Families can participate in trainings in areas such as child rearing, job training, health and nutrition, as well as learn about other resources in our community.
