Live Healthy Kids is a nutrition, cooking, and physical wellness curriculum offered in elementary schools throughout Athens County. This Live Healthy Appalachia program aims to show children how to make delicious and healthy food through a multi-sensory, hands-on experience. In this classroom-based curriculum, children, their teachers, Live Healthy Kids Food Educators and volunteers are learning together about ways to live a healthier, more active life in Appalachia.
The LHK Assistant helps Live Healthy Appalachia teach children about making delicious, nutritious food that they can share with their families. As an assistant, you will help LHA’s cause in fighting childhood obesity as these cooking classes can inspire children to eat better and stay active.
You will be working directly with elementary-aged children and two Live Healthy Kids Food Educators and will be doing a combination of the following:
Guiding children how to use a knife properly
Helping with classroom management
Engaging with the students
Prepping ingredients before children cook
Assist with children and Food Educators with cooking
Washing dishes at the end of the lesson
More opportunities with LIVE HEALTHY APPALACHIA
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.
