We are a small, local horse sanctuary seeking volunteers interested in connecting with rescued horses in a farm environment. Any experience level is welcomed: students in need of community service hours; retirees seeking to stay active and to give back; homemakers seeking to get involved with their community and work with like-minded animal lovers; and office workers seeking to get out from behind their computer screens.

Depending upon skill level, you may work either independently, in teams or with supervision. Some examples of how you can help:

- feeding and watering horses
- leading and grooming horses
- blanketing the horses
- cleaning stalls, paddocks, and aisle ways
- field maintenance
- fixing fences
- painting
- fundraising
- bookeeping
- outreach & program development

Never doubt that you can make a difference. Please contact us and let us know what your interests are: info@midnightsequinerescueandsanctuary.com

About MIDNIGHTS EQUINE RESCUE & SANCTUARY

Mission Statement

Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, retrain, and rehome horses; to provide a permanent sanctuary for horses that are not capable of being rehomed; and to educate the public in the care and training of horses using an intuitive horsemanship approach.

Description

While officially established on December 19, 2013, Midnight’s Equine Rescue and Sanctuary began a few years earlier with the rescue of an awesome, gorgeous, loveable, big personality pure black Morgan Horse named Midnight. Since then, more rescued horses, ponies, and mini-horses have made their way to the farm and into our lives and hearts.

On November 3rd, 2013, Midnight passed-away from complications from colic. Later that week, we heard of a horse that was completely healthy and just six years old that was at a kill buyer's farm ready to be shipped to the slaughter-house. Well, when we went to pick her up, for the price of $700.00, there was a Belgian Draft Horse next to her that had a face that would melt a stone-heart. So that's how we came to rescue Tiny-Tim, too!

We came to realize that, with a little help, we could do more for these and other abandoned horses. Since then, over the years, a combination of veterinarian technicians, horse trainers, educators, students, retirees, homemakers, and even musicians and a yoga teacher have stepped up to help. Together, we do good for horses on a rented 30-acre farm in the country.
