Job Carr Cabin Museum in Old Town Park

Job Carr Cabin Museum (JCCM) is seeking volunteers to assist us with producing a short promotional video (5-10 minutes), to help tell the Cabin’s story to potential supporters. The video will be shown at our annual fundraising breakfast in October. It will serve as a vehicle to transport attendees into the Cabin, in the company of children and families who are captivated by hands-on activities and a fascinating story of how the City of Tacoma came into being. We expect that a quality video will present our story in a way that compels this audience to become engaged with the Cabin’s mission.

TIMELINE:
With the assistance of Museum staff, you will create a video concept and script. We would like to start video taping potential elements in July and August. You will be responsible for providing your own video and editing equipment. The finished video should be ready to present to our Board of Directors at their meeting on 9/20/16.

There are number of opportunities coming up to capture good video footage of Cabin activities. The following list of events would provide good "action" footage to help build the video:

  1. Summer Storytime at the Cabin is 1-2pm on 7/27, 8/3, 8/10, 8/17, 8/24 and 8/31.
  2. Craft Saturday is 8/20, 12-4pm.
  3. Old Town Tacoma History Walk is 8/17, 5-6pm.
  4. Pioneer Days Festival is 9/17, 12-4pm.

PURPOSE:
Primarily, this video will be the focal point of the presentation during our "Eureka!" Breakfast on 10/20/16. The audience at this event are local business people who are coming together to help provide support, but not all of them have actually visited the Cabin.

Even as our mission focuses on "bringing Tacoma’s birthplace to life," we seek to find a way to bring the experience of a Cabin visit to life for those have joined us at this event. Attendees at our breakfast expect to come away with a better understanding of how our programs help our community and how their donations will impact our work.

Beyond the Breakfast, the video would be an excellent addition to our website and other promotional opportunities, such as speaking engagements.
