Job Title

Volunteer Food Pantry Coordinator/Co-Coordinator

(shared volunteer position, 4-6 hours per week)

TUESDAYS, 8:30-10:30 & 12:30-3:30

Office Manager

Description

This will ideally be 1 of 2 positions as co-coordinators at approximately 4-6 hrs per week, Tuesdays.

General Definition: The Volunteer Food Pantry Coordinator will lead a team of volunteers in Novato Human Needs Center's Tuesday Food Pantry, report the Pantry's logistical and volunteer staffing needs to NHNC Office Manager, and coordinate with the SF-Marin Food Bank (with direction from staff).

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

· Print out Food Pantry participant lists

· AM- Sign delivery invoice from SF-Marin Food Bank truck, confirm delivery of food against invoice

· Orient new volunteers (using new volunteer guidelines provided by Center)

· Assign tasks to volunteers as needed

· Ensure all volunteers sign in to record hours, and those handling food are wearing gloves

· PM- Monitor food quantities and check-in with volunteers

Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience in recruiting and managing volunteers in a nonprofit (church, service group) environment
  • Project Management and good organizational skills
  • Ability to work well with people of diverse cultural and/or ethnic backgrounds
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality
  • Basic knowledge of food handling and storage and/or willingness to attend food handling training

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
