ORGANIZATION: Mental Health America of Georgia

Turner Field

Mental Health America of Georgia has partnered with the Turner Field food, beverage, and retail provider, Delaware North, for a fundraising opportunity. MHA will be given a percentage of all concession sales made at concession stands that MHA volunteers will operate. These stands will be operational during Atlanta Braves games at Turner Field for the remainder of this season and at the new stadium in Marietta next season.

How it Works

Mental Health America recruits volunteers to operate concession stands at Turner Field. Stands require a specific number of volunteers, depending on their size. Portable stands require at least 4 volunteers. Larger stands require at least 10-15 people.

Every volunteer must attend one mandatory 4-hour training to review safety and food regulations. Once a volunteer has been trained, he/she may volunteer for more than one game. Volunteer trainings are typically scheduled during the week towards the end of the day to accommodate volunteer work schedules and personal commitments.

Game date events last between 6-10 hours. Volunteers must report to Turner Field 3 ½ hours prior to game start for setup. Group leaders (the Director of Operations until other group leaders are established) will report 4 hours prior to game start.

Volunteers will be responsible for set-up/break-down of the stand, operating the stand, and recording the spoilage (leftover food, etc.) when the game ends. Everyone will receive training on specifics and there will be supervisors employed by the vendor to assist and answer any questions.

Volunteers are required to wear a uniform that will be provided by Delaware North during the training.

Please note: All volunteers must be at least 18 years old due to Georgia laws pertaining to serving alcohol in the state.
