Help children and adults with disabilities, learning differences, and other challenges, as well as veterans and their families, receive crucial therapy from riding or working with horses at the beautiful new Texas Horse Park in southeast Dallas.

Equest needs you as groomers and tackers, leaders and sidewalkers, working side by side with our clients to enable them to use their minds and bodies and regain control of their lives, work their muscles and brains, to achieve independence and improve their physical, mental and emotional lives.

Get fresh air and exercise while serving your community- doing important work that changes lives. Join a dedicated and wonderful team of people who bring joy and hope to the daily struggle of so many clients and their families. Work with our amazing horses- the most wonderful natural therapists in the world.

Arrive 45 minutes before each class to groom and tack the horse, and work an hour in class as a leader or sidewalker, then 15 minutes or so after class to put things away, for a total of 2 hours, per class commitment. Many choose to do more than one class. Program Volunteers must attend training before volunteering.

Classes run Thursday, September 6th to Saturday, December 8 for Fall Session 2018. Please choose a regular 2 hour slot at the same day and time each week for the 11 week session. We offer classes to volunteer in most mornings, afternoons and evenings, each week throughout the year. Each class is a 2 hour commitment per week. Volunteers try to make all or as many weeks as they can and there is a substitute system when needed.

Volunteer riding lessons are also offered for a fee. The program is mostly closed Sundays except that horse care and barn chores are done every day.

Please see our website for more details: www.equest.org/volunteer.Program Training is offered twice a semester from 8:30 am-2:30 pm on Saturday, August 18, or Saturday, August 25. You must attend one training in order to volunteer at Equest. To sign-up for training, please email egrant@equest.org or call (972) 412-1099, ext. 211. We will offer more training sessions in January 2019.

We need your help and you will love it! Barn volunteers also welcome. For Program and Barn volunteering, sturdy footwear required and dressing for the weather in layers as needed is advised. Classes run "rain or shine" as barns and arena are covered. Opportunities for Internships & Administrative volunteering as well.
