YOU can help cats and kittens find homes! Heaven on Earth holds adoption events every Saturday at Petsmart Santa Clarita and is looking for cat-loving volunteers who can help match rescued cats with loving families. Plus, you'll get to pet and interact with the kitties while you're there, too!

Duties consist of setup at 11am (tables, cages, food, etc.), showing cats and kittens to the public, and event teardown. As an adoption volunteer, you will also serve as an ambassador for Heaven on Earth by answering questions from the public about our organization and our cats. Don't worry, we'll teach as you go!

Minimum required time commitment is one Saturday a month, from 11am to 3:30pm. Of course, volunteering more than one Saturday each month is welcomed!


You must be at least 18 years old, and able to lift approximately 30lbs. Please be prepared to stand/walk for a few hours at a time.

Other on-site weekly duties available! The cats who reside at Petsmart Santa Clarita require daily care (food, water, clean litter boxes, and social time). If you are interested in caring for the Petsmart cats on a weekly or substitute basis, please reference this in your response.

Mission Statement

Heaven on Earth, founded in 2000, envisions the day when there are no more homeless pets in the Los Angeles area. Our programs and events are aimed to rescue cats most at risk for euthanasia and to raise awareness in Los Angeles and beyond.

Description

We fulfill our mission by:

  • The Perry MacFarlane Sanctuary, our Cage-free, No-kill Facility. Cats who are with us temporarily awaiting adoption as well as longer-term residents receive quality care and lots of love at our North Hollywood sanctuary, known affectionately as Perry’s Place.
  • Adoption Program. Mobile adoption events are held each weekend at several area pet stores, and we host adoption visits at Perry’s Place as well.
  • SpayShip Transport Service. Working in conjunction with local spay/neuter clinics, SpayShip provides free transportation and trapping assistance for community and companion cats in targeted San Fernando Valley zip codes.
  • Community Outreach. Referral, guidance, support and humane education are central to everything we do, and while we cannot rescue every cat in need, we do respond to each inquiry we receive from people seeking to help them.
