Heartland Hospice is in need of Volunteers to offer support, companionship and practical, compassionate help. As a volunteer, you would help us decide which tasks you are comfortable performing. Our volunteers help enrich the lives of our patients by 1) helping with office support tasks at the agency, 2) running errands for patients and families, 3) staying with patients so family members can get a much-needed rest, 4) reading or providing a comforting touch, 5) playing or singing soothing music to patients, and 6) keeping vigil with patients in their final hours. If you would like to become a hospice volunteer please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at 706-860-7374 to begin becoming qualified.

Description
Hospice is a concept of care designed to provide comfort and support to patients and their families in the last phase of life. Hospice care seeks to enable patients to carry on in a comfortable, pain-free manner so that their last months may be spent with dignity and quality. Hospice neither prolongs life nor hastens death. It provides its specialized knowledge of pain control, medical care, and psychological, emotional and spiritual support in a comprehensive manner, in an environment that includes family and friends.
