Caring for the River is fun!
Volunteers work along the Mississippi River restoring habitat, doing clean-ups and planting native plants.

Help with remove sumac from the prairie while enjoying the beautiful grasses and wildflowers of this dry sand prairie with wonderful views of the Mississippi River! Come lend a hand to help improve the habitat of this unique place.

This event is led by Mississippi Park Connection and the National Park Service who will provide necessary tools and gloves. Please wear long pants and close-toed shoes for this outdoor project. Bring water too. See the Grey Cloud Dunes web page for a map and description of the site.

Description

The Volunteers-In-Parks program is a joint program with Mississippi Park Connection. Mississippi National River and Recreation Area represents America's greatest river, the Mississippi, which weaves together the natural and cultural heritage and economic vitality of the region. The National Park Service works with partners to foster increased citizen awareness, advocacy, and enjoyment of the resources of the Mississippi River.

Volunteer-In-Parks provides people with opportunities to discover, experience, and enjoy the diversity of the Mississippi River while also preserving it for future generations through volunteer restoration projects and education programs.
