The Prevent Cancer Foundation needs your help! We are in the planning stages of the 8th annual Prevent Cancer 5k Walk/Run and Health Fair taking place the morning of Sunday, September 25 , 201 6 . We will once again return to Nationals Park with a walk/run route around the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood. This year, Prevent Cancer hopes to welcome 1,500 participants for a great morning of health, fitness and fun.

We are looking for dedicated, energetic volunteers to make this event a success! Producing a 5k is an extremely labor intensive endeavor and we are in need of as many volunteers as we can recruit. As we all know, the lifeblood of any successful event is its volunteers and we have always had the best! Volunteer opportunities range from helping warm-up the participants, serving as road marshals along the course and cheering on the walker/runners/teams over the 3.1 miles, passing out Subway sandwiches and handing out water. Warning -- the hour will be early, but what better way to spend a morning than having the Nationals’ stadium all to ourselves and helping spread the word about cancer prevention. There will be free parking available in Garage B (corner of South Capitol Street and N Street) and Garage C (corner of First Street and N Street).
