The program meets on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3 PM-6 PM at Oakland Tech High School in Oakland, CA starting in the Fall Semester of the School year.

We are looking for volunteers who have tutoring or teaching experience and would like to support high school students. We hope that tutors can commit to a consistent schedule of some sort, even if you can't show up for every single session.

About Fam 1st Family Foundation

Location:

582 Market St., Ste. 1020, San Francisco, CA 94104, US

Mission Statement

We created Fam 1st Family Foundation in 2006 with the official forming in March 2011, to improve the lives of children by mentoring them on the importance of education, literacy and self-esteem. Fam 1st was launched by Joshua Johnson (QB, SF 49ers) and Marshawn Lynch (RB, Seattle Seahawks) who have overcome a significant amount of adversity to become the men they are today. Prior to becoming NFL athletes giving back to the community and helping underprivileged youth succeed has always been a passion for both Joshua and Marshawn.

Description

Goal: Using a mobile phone app to encourage kids to attend Super Bowl Champ Marshawn Lynch and SF 49ers Josh Johnson's hands-on learning workshops. Also prompts kids to try to raise their grades in school and engage other healthy learning habits. Basic Concept: Use the phone app to earn points for accomplishments. Marshawn and Josh gives positive reinforcement through app as they progress through the different stages of accomplishment. Once students reach a certain number of points, they receive an opportunity to attend a special event with Marshawn and Josh hosting.
