Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Arlington Free Clinic. AFC relies upon professional medical volunteers to provide free and quality care to uninsured resident adults of Arlington, VA. We need Primary Care and Specialist doctors to help during our clinic sessions. They are scheduled every Tuesday and Wednesday at 5 pm, and every Thursday at 12:30 and 5 pm, but we also can accommodate volunteers to assist us during different hours of the day.

Most volunteers work once or twice per month for three hours per shift and we require a six-month or more commitment. Volunteers are asked to come in for an interview and a general orientation. EMR training is provided.

Providers must be licensed to practice in Virginia and be in good standing in their affiliated hospital. We register all licensed medical professionals with the Virginia Department of Risk Management which provides risk coverage for those working as volunteers in free clinics.

Thanks again for considering volunteering with us. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Kate Nadeau

About Arlington Free Clinic

Location:

2921 11th Street South, Arlington, VA 22204, US

Mission Statement

Arlington Free Clinic advances health equity by providing comprehensive, whole-person healthcare to our neighbors who would otherwise lack access.

Description

At Arlington Free Clinic (AFC), we care for the whole person. Volunteer providers treat patients for every condition from chronic diabetes to cancer, while mental health counselors help them cope with the stresses of serious illness and poverty. New wellness programs and increased focus on preventive care help our patients live healthier lives. And, for the first time since the Clinic opened, visits to the dentist allow our patients to go out into the world with a confident smile.

Since 1994, Arlington Free Clinic has been committed to providing exemplary health care for Arlingtonians in need, serving about 1,600 patients each year. Access to health care makes such a critical difference in the lives of individuals and families - giving them peace of mind and economic security - and we continue to work every day toward a healthier Arlington.
