Help Us Build a New Habitat for Rescued Orphaned Cougar Cub

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Safe Haven Wildlife Sanctuary

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

Safe Haven provides interim care to abandoned, confiscated and surrendered exotics throughout the U.S. They may be housed in a smaller enclosure to provide emergency placement, but we begin constructing new large habitats as soon as possible.

Our most recent rescue is an orphaned cougar cub and we have started the construction of a 10,000 sq-ft enclosure for the new home that will include an insulated den and a multi-level climbing and shade platform. Our goal is to provide spacious enclosure with plenty of enrichment to keep our lifelong residents happy and engaged.

We are in need of volunteers with construction skills, but there are many options that volunteers without these skills can contribute to. We welcome single volunteers, couples and larger groups. Overnight housing is available for one to two people.

About Safe Haven Wildlife Sanctuary

Location:

9605 State Hwy 400, PO Box 184, Imlay, NV 89418, US

Mission Statement

To provide interim care for injured and orphaned native wildlife and lifelong care to surrendered, confiscated and abandoned exotics and to provide educational outreach programs to area schools.

Description

Safe Haven Wildlife Sanctuary, located on 320-acres in rural northern Nevada, provides lifelong care to exotics that have been surrendered by their owners or confiscated due to substandard care. Accredited by the American Sanctuary Association and verified by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries, we provide these services free of charge and rely on public support, grant funding and area fundraisers.

In some instances we provide emergency placement care which may result in housing a rescued resident in a small temporary enclosure but immediately begin constructing a new spacious enclosure. Habitat building and grounds update are several of our priority volunteer needs.
