  • 146 people are interested

Do you want to help ensure that women experiencing homelessness are served a warm meal each day? We are in need of volunteers (1-2 people at a time) to help serve meals to the women at Emma Norton Services. Emma Norton Services combats poverty by providing transitional housing and supportive services for 50 women as they work to achieve stability and self-sufficiency.

Details: We serve lunch M-F at noon and dinner M-F at 5:00 pm. Volunteers will be asked to come in 15 minutes before serve time. They will work under the supervision of our cook, who will be there to answer any questions they may have. Volunteers will be responsible for serving the already prepared food to our residents in a cafeteria style dining room. After serving, volunteers will also be responsible for cleaning up the kitchen.

Time Commitment: From start to finish, serving and cleaning up one meal will take about an hour and a half. You can commit to just one meal, or you can commit to come in regularly!

Mission Statement

The mission of Emma Norton Services is transformational housing for women and families on their journey of recovery.

Description

Emma Norton Services partners with women, children and families who are homeless and experiencing the challenges of mental and/or chemical disabilities. Without having to worry about the basic need of a safe, secure place to live, women and children can utilize and focus on supportive programs, life skills, services and opportunities available to accomplish their goals. We operate two site-based facilities in the Twin Cities, Emma Norton Residence and Emma's Place, as well as a supportive housing program in the community through our Scattered Site program.

Emma Norton Residence is a housing program in downtown St. Paul serving 50 adult women at any given time. Emma's Place in Maplewood offers permanent, supportive and affordable housing for 13 families with three or more children. After-school and children's programming includes educational, recreational, and motivational activities. Our new Scattered Site program partners with small landlords to support women and families secure housing and thrive in the community.
