Learn Skills Of A Veterinary Assistant With Hands-On Experience!

This Is A Veterinary Assistant internship With

Our cat sanctuary in Orange County has openings for veterinary assistant interns for a commitment of the summer session, or longer.

Community Animal Network's sanctuary houses and treats geriatric cats and those with treatable diseases and conditions managed with medications. The sanctuary and rescue office is in a home. C.A.N. is a veterinary medical rescue that treats animals that other rescues could turn away because of costs.

The day shift opportunity is 9:30am - 3pm, Monday - Friday. We Try to Accomodate Chosen Shift Days.

Night shifts are ONLY 1 Hour - Available Shifts: Friday, Saturday, Sunday Start 5pm, 6pm or 7 pm.

Dr. Elaine Wexler-Mitchell is a board certified feline specialist that oversees the sanctuary cats care. (Only 150 certified in the U.S.).

This non-paid internship teaches students to give injections, administer pills, manage pain, perform critical care management, draw blood, and check glucose levels. Grooming and nail trimming and using the grooming tool to shave the hair for treatment areas, and cutting pills is also taught.

Students are responsible to keep inventory of the pharmacy of medications, and restocking food and litter. Must Be Able to Lift and Carry Supplies.

The position includes: kennel duties and feeding, rotating playtime, cleaning urine marking areas, extraction of urine as needed, pet laundry, vacuuming and mopping, disinfecting.

May include; summarizing veterinary treatment plans for the pets health records, vet visits with feline patients, critical-care management of sick cats; force feeding, IV line sub- Que Fluid Therapy.

Perfect for "pre-vet" students or students considering the veterinary industry that are coming home for the summer, or those interested in obtaining a vet technician job in a vet hospital, or even those that missed their calling in the veterinary world.

To provide veterinary medical services for homeless, or "at-risk" shelter dogs and cats; including community outreach programs, spay/ neuter, veterinary medical treatments, procedures and surgeries to facilitate the adoption these animals and to provide the financial resources necessary to support the rescuing of these animals.

Description

Community Animal Network provides veterinary medical services to rescued animals that need to find new homes and was founded in Newport Beach, California, in 1996.

C.A.N. is a community supported with donations that service the needs of shelter animals and abandoned animals that need to find new homes. Our signature community outreach program is our "Pets For Seniors" program that gives mature cats to senior people and provides the veterinary medical for the animals life-time.

Rescue animals are cared for in private homes by the "Good Samaritans" that rescued the abandoned animal, or in foster homes (when available) all lover Orange county.

Community Animal Network shows rescue animals for adoption in the caregiver's homes.
