SMIB2

The goal of She Made It Blue, Inc. is to end the stigma associated with mental illness by sharing personal stories from real people living with real mental illnesses. Our writers recognize that mental illness can happen to anyone and is nothing to be ashamed of. We are committed to sharing our stories shamelessly until the rest of the world catches on.

If you have experience with mental illness and feel your story can help others, joining She Made It Blue, Inc.'s writing team may be a good volunteer opportunity for you.

WHAT: The writing team contributes to the She Made It Blue (SMIB) website ( www.shemadeitblue.com) through a personal blog. Each writer will have his or her own personal page on SMIB where he or she can write about struggles and successes with mental illness.

WHO: Good candidates are passionate about ending the stigma associated with mental illness and are willing to share openly to help others in similar circumstances. SMIB blog contributors must be willing to post at least bi-weekly and share their posts on social media. Contributors should be comfortable using social media frequently.

We will not accept applications for blog contributors who wish to remain anonymous. All applicants will be subject to a background check.

Mission Statement

She Made It Blue wants to end the stigma of mental illness. We want individuals afraid to seek the mental health support they need to no longer fear discrimination and embarrassment.

Description

She Made It Blue was started by Amy Schultz as a way to share her struggle with anxiety and depression . Amy believes that years of suffering could have been avoided if she had not felt the stigma of seeking treatment for her mental illness. Through She Made It Blue , Amy continues to share her experiences with anxiety and depression in the hope of creating a more understanding community, but her goal doesn't end there.

She Made It Blue is ready to expand its social media presence to include advocates of as many mental illnesses as possible and needs your help to get there.

Our hope is to find an advocate for various mental illnesses and provide our advocates with a personal website under She Made It Blue to be set up as a daily blog that includes sharing to Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

Through real people with mental illness, we are determined to spread the message that stigmatizing mental illness is wrong. The more people who realize they know someone with a mental illness or know what it's like to have a mental illness, the more compassion will win over stigma.
