Restore North Creek Forest! (7/30/16) (Lower Sites)

Come join us for a stewardship work party to help restore North Creek Forest at the Lower Restoration Sites! You will make the forest healthier by removing invasive plants, like Himalayan blackberry and morning glory, and spreading wood chip mulch. Removing the invasive plants will make room for future native plants, and mulching will provide soil nutrients and reduce erosion. No experience is required, and all ages and group sizes are more than welcome!

Friends of North Creek Forest will provide tools, gloves, and a light refreshments for all volunteers. Directions are below:

LOWER RESTORATION SITES (#1, #2, #3)

  • GPS: 20329 112th Ave. NE, Bothell, WA 98011 Note: Ignore voice command to take Ross Road. It no longer connects to 112th as of 2 years ago.

  • Directions:
    • Our Lower Restoration sites (Sites 1-3) are accessed by 112th Ave. NE., which is off of Beardslee Blvd./NE 195th St. just north of the UW Bothell & Cascadia College campuses.
    • From Beardslee/NE 195th, turn onto 112th (going behind the Village at Beardslee Crossing) and follow 112th past the North Creek Heights apartments and farmhouse. You will soon see the restoration sites to your left with our banner and equipment displayed. Park anywhere along the street.

Our Mission: To maintain and improve the biological function of North Creek Forest through education, stewardship and conservation in perpetuity.

Description

Friends of North Creek Forest is a grassroots environmental non-profit founded in 2011 that focuses on environmental restoration and education within North Creek Forest. By weaving education and restoration together we are improving the ecological function of the forest while also boosting education. Expanding this model benefits our salmon and the Puget Sound.

Our volunteer work helps reduce soil erosion, increase forest heatlh, increase water quality, increase native wildlife habitat, and builds a stronger sense of community. Check back frequently for future volunteer opportunities.
