Board Member- Secretary

Position Summary:

Responsible for helping HSAMF to achieve financial goals, objectives and increase operating performance. Prepares budgets, creates businesses plans, and solves internal issues as they arise.

Essential Functions:

  • · Attend all board meetings
  • · Give proper notice of any meetings and timely distribute materials such as agendas and meeting minutes.
  • · Provide advice and resources on governance issues, amendments to the by-laws,
  • · Maintain accurate documentation (letters, articles of incorporation, etc.), list of directors, board and committee minutes, financial reports, and other official records
  • · Maintains records of membership
  • · Manage general correspondence of Board of Directors
  • · Responsible for reviewing and updating documents as necessary
  • · Ensure the safety and accuracy of all board records
  • · Work with all board members to secure funding grants for the organization


Strong written and verbal skills a must. Passion for mission of HSAMF and willingness to lead a nationwide nonprofit organization. Strong organization and time management skills. Flexibility. Proficiency at Microsoft Office Word, and Excel. Willingness to learn simple marketing e-mail program; eTapestry. Must commit to lead for 1 Year, with re-election option available. Must sign HSAMF’s Statement of Faith.


  • Ability to engage others with enthusiasm and passion for the mission of HSAMF

  • Willingness to lead, take charge and offer opinions and direction in a positive manner

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work on multiple projects with attention to detail

  • Understanding of homeschooling and/or military families preferred but not required

  • Experience in the nonprofit sector preferred but not required
