A Musical Offering, Inc. is recruiting up to nine members for its volunteer Board of Directors. Interested persons should complete the application on our website (www.amusicaloffering.org) and email to amoboard@gmail.com no later than midnight, August 13, 2016.

The Board of Directors as a whole has the responsibility to set policy, ensure that the fiscal and legal responsibilities of A Musical Offering, Inc. are met (especially those regarding its incorporation and non-profit/501(c)3 status), oversee the activities of the Action Team and ensure that the Corporation is fulfilling its mission and the vision of the Artistic Director(s). The Board shall be governed by its Policies and Procedures, the By-Laws of A Musical Offering, Inc. and all relevant local, state and federal statutes.

To this end, A Musical Offering, Inc. seeks volunteer Board Members who are passionate about presenting live, free, small venue musical performances in Gainesville and North Central Florida featuring local artists and living composers.

No specific skills are necessary, but experience with non-profit organizations, fundraising, financial management, musical performance and/or education is helpful.

The Board is comprised of volunteers and governed by three officers: Board Chairperson, Board Vice-Chairperson and Board Treasurer; and is supported by an Action Team who is responsible for the execution of all events and programs of A Musical Offering, Inc.

The Board of Directors meets generally three to four times per year, including an annual retreat to review past activities, plan for the upcoming Jubilus Concert Season and The Village Summer Music Camp, and review progress in the annual and strategic plans. In the last year of the strategic plan, the Board will draft and approve a new strategic plan for a three to five year period.

It is critical for the health and stability of A Musical Offering, Inc. that the Board be active in fundraising and "friendraising" on behalf of the Corporation and promoting the Corporation’s activities. Members of the Board should attend all fundraising events and at least one of the Corporation’s concert or educational activities.

Mission Statement

The Mission of A Musical Offering (AMO) is to support the musical arts in Gainesville and North-Central Florida through commissioning, performance, and educational outreach.

Description

A Musical Offering,Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides high-quality, small venue, innovative performances featuring music both new and old. In addition, AMO, Inc. creates opportunities for emerging musicians and provides outreach to all ages with a focus on K-12 students.

The roots of A Musical Offering, Inc. trace back to an annual concert organized by Nansi Carroll, formerly Music Director at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Gainesville, FL, with colleague Stephen Coxe, known as "Out of the Sacred". Within 5 years the single concert had grown to an annual festival of four to six concerts over a two-week span, with an outreach program to local elementary, middle or high school students. Within another 5 years, the Jubilus Festival had outgrown its original home at St. Augustine's. To continue to support the festival, the organization A Musical Offering (AMO), was formed to help coordinate and fund the concert events as well as other musical outreach. In 2003, AMO incorporated as a non-profit entity with the State of Florida.

With an all-volunteer board of directors, under the direction of Artistic Directors Nansi Carroll and Stephen Coxe, A Musical Offering, Inc. continues its tradition of presenting innovative and entertaining musical programs - now in the form of the Jubilus Concert Series - featuring local and visiting performers and the Voices Choral Ensemble. In addition, AMO also presents The Village, a one-week summer music camp for ages four through high school.
