OCTC SkillTrain exists to provide adult basic education services to the Daviess County community. Each year, OCTC SkillTrain serves nearly 300 students who are pursuing their GEDs and/or trying to test into college classes. We do this through the combination of a dedicated and professional staff and trained community volunteers who serve as one-on-one GED tutors.
GED tutors work one-on-one with students in any of the 4 GED test areas -- Reading/Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, or Science. All tutoring takes place in our center on Frederica Street. No prior lesson planning or teaching experience is required! We do ask that all of our volunteers possess a desire to help, a love of learning, and an ability to communicate effectively with learners.
Community members who are interested in knowing more about SkillTrain’s programs and volunteer opportunities are welcome to join us for an information session at our center on the third Tuesday of each month at 9 am or 6 pm beginning on Tuesday, August 15, 2017.
If you’d like more information, please contact Lindsey Kafer at lindsey.kafer@kctcs.edu or 270.686.3781.
