Skilled writers meet with patients who desire to create a written work or digital history using available story collecting apps such as StoryCorps. This may include a life story, ethical will, memoir or legacy letter for a hospice patient. The Stories of the Heart Program understands that an essential work at end of life involves reminiscing and story-telling. This process alone can be greatly beneficial to the patient in reflecting on the whole of their life experience. The keepsake created is given to the family when completed. Writers are required to complete appropriate Hospice Volunteer training and requirements. Mentoring is available. Necessary tools to complete the projects are provided. Time frame for each assignment varies and scheduling is flexibile.
