The Helping a Needy Kid Society is a 501c3 nonprofit charity which provides financial assistance to underprivileged and at-risk youth in grades Kindergarten through 12th to explore extracurricular activities in the areas of Sports, Art, Music and Education.

We serve Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware with an emphasis on Montgomery and Bucks Counties. Exploring activities outside of school allows children the opportunity to build self-esteem and a positive self-image. Enabling children to do extracurricular activities keeps them busy during after school hours and helps direct their attention to positive areas of their life as well as giving them an outlet for stress. Extracurricular activities also helps them to develop sports and other skills that could lead to scholarships and other future opportunities.

Board Member Responsibilities Board members are expected to: Prepare for, Attend, and Actively participate in board meetings. Face to face meetings are scheduled six times a year, in Montgomery County, PA. A Board Member can expect a 10 hour per month commitment. A director who is absent from 50% of board meetings during a year may be removed from the board. Serve on and Actively participate in at least one committee. The current standing committees are: Executive & Personnel, Finance & Audit, Fundraising, Events & Campaign Marketing & PR and Evaluation & Research. Committee meeting attendance may be in person or via telephone conference call. Make an annual gift to T.H.A.N.K.S. according to personal means, and with the realization of the leadership role of the Board in fundraising. Participate in donor cultivation and stewardship activities. Attend T.H.A.N.K.S. activities and events whenever possible. Suggest possible nominees to the Board.
