For the past 28 years, Copa Inc. has been providing services for at - risk youths to help curb gang violence. Today in collaboration with the Department of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), corporations, community organizations, the faith based community and Law enforcement to assist local community development organizations revitalize the greater bay area’s neighborhoods, helping to prevent juvenile delinquency. Copa’s primary objective is to provide jobs, work programs, recreational activities, retreats and scholarships as an alternative to gang violence and drug abuse.

COPA is currently looking for a volunteers to provide secretarial support to the branch committee and to be responsible for effective communications within the branch including fundraising.

We need volunteers to join our team and help us continue making a difference locally for those affected by violence. The role is vital to the organization of our branch committee and the local activities and communications with our members.

The main responsibilities include:

To make contact with prospective customers for the purpose of promoting upcoming basketball tournaments.

To prepare, with the Chair, agendas for Committee and other events and provide secretarial support;

To book venues and participants for events

To respond and deal with all correspondence

To ensure the effective and accurate communication and updating of information including membership list and Newsletter

To keep and file appropriate papers

To take part in Association training and attend meetings as required

The essential skills needed for this role

Good organisational skills

Effective written and oral communication skills

Accurate and reliable administrative skills

Computer literate including use of email
