For the past 26 years, Copa Inc. has been providing services for at - risk youths to help curb gang violence. Today in collaboration with the Department of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), corporations, community organizations, the faith based community and Law enforcementto assist local community development organizations revitalize the greater bay area’s neighborhoods, helping to prevent juvenile delinquency. Copa’s primary objective is to provide jobs, work programs, recreational activities, retreats and scholarships as an alternative to gang violence and drug abuse.
The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) supports a wide range of mentoring initiatives aimed at preventing and reducing juvenile delinquency.to develop and expand the OJJDP National Mentoring Resource Center, which will provide comprehensive mentoring resources, references, and training materials; and, advance the implementation of evidence- and research-based mentoring practices. The goal of the resource center is to enhance the capacity of mentoring organizations to develop, implement, and expand effective mentoring practices.
COPA is currently looking for a volunteers to provide secretarial support to the branch committee and to be responsible for effective communications within the branch.
We need volunteers to join our team and help us continue making a difference locally for those affected by violence. The role is vital to the organisation of our branch committee and the local activities and communications with our members.
The main responsibilities include:
To prepare, with the Chair, agendas for Committee and other meetings and provide secretarial support at the meetings
To book venues and speakers for meetings
To respond and deal with all Branch correspondence
To ensure the effective and accurate communication and updating of Branch information including Branch membership list and Branch Newsletter
To keep and file appropriate papers
To take part in Branch or Association training and attend meetings as required
The essential skills needed for this role
Good organisational skills
Effective written and oral communication skills
Accurate and reliable administrative skills
Computer literate including use of email
