LACMA’s Museum Service Council (MSC) is seeking candidates to join the Fall 2016 guest services volunteer class. Successful candidates will be friendly and outgoing, proactive in approaching strangers, and gracious in working with visitors and members from a wide demographic spectrum.

Successful candidates are expected to commit to one year of service after completing a training course that will include private docent-led tours of the permanent collection, guest services training, and rigorous customer service training. They will also receive in-service training and refresher training throughout their first year of service at LACMA.

MSC Volunteers are expected to be mobile for most of their on-site shift. Fun tasks include welcoming visitors to the LACMA campus, orienting visitors to the campus map and Today at LACMA document, conducting visitor feedback surveys, and providing general information about the museum and what’s on display in the permanent collections and special exhibitions.

Once training has completed, MSC Volunteers will have a conversational knowledge of the LACMA membership program and be ready to engage visitors about membership programs and benefits with the ultimate goal of converting the casual LACMA visitor into a happy, enthusiastic LACMA member!

All MSC Volunteers are provided the coveted red LACMA uniform tee shirt top wear while on shift!
