Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the A.V.E.C. Les Enfants supervised visitation center! Volunteers are the heart of A.V.E.C. We rely on our volunteers to help supervise visitation between non-custodial parents and their children. All volunteers are required to attend a volunteer training and complete a background check to maintain the safety of all children at the center.

The center is open on Friday, Saturday and Sundays. Visits are 2 hours long and monitors can volunteer 2-10 hours a month.

About EXTRA MILE REGION IV INC

Location:

720 Saint John Street, LAFAYETTE, LA 70501, US

Mission Statement

The goal of AVEC Les Enfants, a subsidiary of The Extra Mile, Region IV, Inc., is to maintain the relationship between children and biological parents in a safe and child friendly environment, thereby supporting the natural attachment children have toward their parents and ensuring child/parent bonding has an opportunity to be maintained, even in adverse circumstances. Supervised visitation is increasingly being ordered by courts when there are safety concerns due to a history of domestic violence, substance abuse, criminal activity or mental illness, or other risk factors, such as the potential for abduction.

Description

AVEC Les Enfants is a safe place children can visit their non-custodial parent. Visits are supervised by trained volunteer monitors. The Center is for non-custodial parents who are required to have supervised visitation.

It is important for children to know both of their parents and spend time with them. Sometimes, supervision is required in order to ensure the safety of the child and parents.

The Center is here to create a safe environment for parent-child interaction; it is the intention of the center to make the child/children feel as comfortable as possible when visiting the center with their non-custodial parent. It is not the intention of this program to take sides in disputes or to counsel families. Staff's role is that of a nonjudgmental observer with assistance or intervention given as needed to provide care or safety for the child or parent(s). Again the child's best interest is paramount. The center provides a place that is safe and child friendly. Trained monitors and law enforcement officers will be on-site during all services for added safety measures.
