A Free Bird is a 501(C)(3)non-profit organization based in New York City. Our focus is to provide children, ages 4-18 who are patients or survivors of juvenile cancer, the opportunity to explore their artistic passions and give them the strength to fight their disease. We believe that artistic expression is critical for healing! A Free Bird supports children affected by cancer in their exploration of art, music, acting, poetry, writing, singing and any other artistic passion they may have.

Description

Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.

Music therapy interventions can be designed to:
-Promote Wellness
-Manage Stress
-Alleviate Pain
-Express Feelings
-Enhance Memory
-Improve Communication
-Promote Physical Rehabilitation

The Music Therapist should have knowledge in how to deal with sick children, this is not a requirement but must understand that we do have children who are sick and you must know how to schedule your program accordingly.

Must have the ability to work for 12 weeks, an hour per week and will be compensated for the transportation.
