Do you play an instrument or sing? Are you willing to share the gift of music?

Research has shown that music has a profound effect on our well-being. Hospice patients are no exception. At Seasons, we make a difference every day to patients and families coping with terminal illness while creating a center of excellence in hospice care. As a music companion volunteer you will partner with our music therapist or other support care team member to provide music that brings enjoyment, perhaps a positive well-being and much life enrichment. The ideal volunteer should enjoy singing, playing an instrument, or sharing recorded music with others. Being familiar with a variety of techniques such as music for relaxation, music for reminiscing and perhaps song writing is a plus.

Hospice volunteers experience a great deal of satisfaction from their service and usually develop strong emotional bonds with the patients they visit. Many patients and families are forever changed by their hospice volunteer. We do hope that new volunteers will make a long-term commitment and dedicate 3-4 hours per month to volunteering. Direct Care volunteers volunteer in their town or surrounding towns and we always work around personal or professional schedules.

Comprehensive hospice training and orientation is provided, free of charge, as well as ongoing support and hospice education opportunities. Should you have any questions, or need further information, please contact Karen Hale, Volunteer Manager at 203.490.1155 or visit www.seasons.org.
