Commitment (length of time needed): February 2017 - May 2017 (flexible)
Hours: Flexible, 4 hours per week between the hours of 10am - 4pm; weekdays

Description:
2017 will mark our 3rd annual Raising the Stakes for Hope & Recovery Benefit. The highly anticipated Kentucky Derby themed event includes delicious hors d'oeuvres, live music, silent auction, mint juleps, pony wagers and much more. The Event Planning Intern will assist in event logistics and day-of event support. The event will take place on Saturday, May 6, 2017 (the day of the Kentucky Derby race) at a venue in Northern Virginia.
Proceeds from the event support PRS' programs provided to individuals living with serious mental illness and/or facing life crises in our community.
Duties:
The volunteer will:
- Solicit and secure auction items
- Write letters
- Make outreach calls
- Send solicitation e-mails
- Develop event marketing materials
- Help set-up auction leading up to and on day of event, including:
- auction item displays
- auction bid sheets
- Create event program with details of auction packages
- Assist with event guest registration and check-out
- Research and secure decor
Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication
- High degree of empathy with PRS' client populations
- Event planning experience
- Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising department

HopeLink exists so that individuals living with mental illness, substance use disorders, mild intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and anyone who faces life crises can achieve safety, personal wellness, recovery and community integration.
We work alongside our clients at all phases of recovery, teaching them how to live independently. With Centers in Fairfax, Mt. Vernon, VA, and residential sites throughout Northern Virginia, HopeLink offers a comprehensive array of programs including the Recovery Academy, Community Housing, Employment Services and Community Support Services, and CrisisLink, a 24/7 suicide prevention and crisis intervention hotline and textline.
