ORGANIZATION: Power Inspires Progress

  • 2 people are interested

Power Inspires Progress operates a pre-employment training program for disadvantaged adults in Cincinnati's inner city. As part of our program, participants spend several hours each pay period working on remedial education, job development, and life skills.

We are looking for individuals with financial expertise to assist in developing a set of materials aimed at helping those in our program learn the basics of personal finance: budgeting, saving, tracking spending, and developing short-, medium-, and long-term financial goals, among other skills.

This could potentially be an interesting and relevant opportunity for employees of banks and financial institutions. We would be interested in (a) making use of existing materials institutions have on hand, and/or (b) working collaboratively to develop materials suited so fit the needs of those whom our organization serves.

Please contact Greg for more information.

Mission Statement

Power Inspires Progress (PIP) is the non-profit which operates Venice on Vine and Venice Catering to support our mission of providing positive paid-on-the-job training for one year to adults who have encountered significant barriers on their road to stable employment.

PIP helps Trainees manage their employment barriers in order to pursue and maintain stable employment as well as build their work history.

We aim to create a sense of belonging and teach basic education, life skills, work ethics, culture of the workplace, and personal responsibility. Trainees begin to gain the knowledge and experience needed to build their resumes and confidence. Trainees aim to be successful not only in the restaurant industry but in any workplace.

We Value: Diversity. Education. Community. Collaboration.

Description

PIP is a social enterprise, earning part of our money through the sales of goods and services. Our Trainees share in what we earn. PIP connects employers and work-ready employees.

PIP works in collaboration with many other organizations to help Trainees overcome obstacles to seeking and keeping employment. PIP Trainees pursue educational, personal, career and professional goals during their one year of training.
