Looking for part-time work that changes lives? Fascinated by other cultures? Established in your community? Become a Local Representative with Nacel Open Door and connect international students with Host Families and High Schools in your area.
Local Representatives arrange home stays for international students by actively recruiting volunteer Host Families, matching each family with an international student, and enrolling the student in a local high school. Local Representatives maintain regular contact with students, families, and schools throughout the student’s stay and provide additional support and guidance.
Local Representatives must be well-connected within their local community and able to create and nurture long-term relationships with Host Families and school administrators. Successful Local Representatives are communicative, dependable, open-minded, organized, self-motivated, and perseverant initiative-takers when recruiting new Host Families and High Schools.
For someone looking for a passion project with a stipend, this is a highly rewarding enterprise. The workload is flexible and self-managed. Payment is commission-based according to the number of students placed. Online certification and training is provided by the National Office, and mentorship is provided by a Regional Coordinator.
Nacel Open Door, Inc. is a nonprofit organization specializing in international education and cultural exchanges. Each year, Nacel Open Door welcomes more than 2,000 international high school students from nearly 30 countries to the United States. Host Families and Local Representatives share the "American experience" with these students who are interested in improving their English and developing themselves as citizens of the world.

Description
Nacel Open Door, Inc. (NOD), a nonprofit organization, formed in April 1997 through the merger of Nacel Cultural Exchanges (established 1957, in France) and Open Door Student Exchange (established 1964). Regional Coordinators and Local Representatives facilitate programs at the local level, while the National Office (St. Paul, MN) administers programs at the national and international levels.
Young people develop a deeper awareness of their role as citizens of the world through direct experience in other cultures:
- Academic Year Program: AYP accepts foreign students to attend American public high schools, for one semester or the entire academic year.
- Private School Program: PSP accepts foreign students to attend American private high schools. Students usually enroll for multiple years.
- Short Term Program: STP accepts foreign students to live with an American family for two weeks to eight weeks.
- Nacel International School System (NISS) & St. Paul Preparatory School (SPP): SPP is an American high school, accepting over 200 international students. SPP is NISS’s original high school, established in 2003 and located in downtown St. Paul, MN. NISS also includes schools in China, South Korea, France, the Philippines, Poland, Vietnam, and Turkey.
NOD also participates in Nacel International, a group of organizations which promote Nacel programs worldwide.
