The Consumer Assistance Office - Metro West, Inc is a 501(3)(c) corporation located in Natick MA, which works in cooperation with the office of the Massachusetts Attorney General to provide free education and mediation services to help consumers resolve their issues with businesses. We currently have 36 towns in our service area. We are seeking a CPA who can serve as Treasurer on the volunteer Board of Directors. Duties include attending Board meetings typically 4 times a year in June, September, December and March. The Treasurer is responsible for reviewing the following: monthly statements, state and federal tax filings and annual budgets, this can be performed remotely. In addition the Treasurer provides advice/guidance to the Director as issues arise.
The office operated under a grant from the Office of the Massachusetts Attorney General. The current budget for FY17 is $90,000 which is spent under the oversight of the AGO.

Mission Statement
The Consumer Assistance Office - Metro West, Inc provides free education about consumer's rights and responsibilites under Consumer Protection Act in the state of Massachusetts. Our service area is comprised of 29 towns int the Metro West area. We also provide a free mediation voluntary mediation service to help consumers and businesses resolve their issues outside of the court system.
Description
We are funded through a grant by the Office of the Massachusetts Attorney General. Additional funding is received through private and corporate donations. We provide resources and information to consumers on the rights and methods of resolving their issues. The mediation process begins with the consumer filing a written complaint. These complaints may be filed with either the Office of the Massachusetts Attorney General or our office. All mediation is performed over the telephone. We are neutral during the mediation process.
