About Project Monma

Location:

79 Darlington Rd, Perth, 6070, AU

Mission Statement

To economically empower women disadvantaged by war and violence through income generation, education and awareness.

Description

Project MonMa (which means "independent woman" in the Acholi language from Northern Uganda) aspires to help women and girls in Central Africa to overcome poverty and discrimination by creating small collectives of women to work together to make local handicrafts. The funds generated through the sales of these handicrafts are used to help us continue supporting the women’s groups and to fund a girl’s scholarship program to help get girls go to university. Our aim is to economically empower women so they can be more active in making choices in their lives, to help girls go to school and to generate awareness about the specific issues facing women in these areas. We also run a number of awareness raising projects and activities to bring attention to the endemic levels of violence and discrimination against women around the world.
