A great way for individuals or groups to help our families staying at the Ronald McDonald House is by preparing and donating meals. We attempt to schedule a meal provider every evening to supply a meal for our guests, to ensure that they do not need to rely on fast food or vending machines. However, there are occasionally times when we cannot get a provider scheduled or circumstances where a provider must cancel. Therefore we like to have a contingency plan in place to ensure that our families receive a warm meal!

Volunteers are able to provide the ingredients and prepare the meal in the House, so that it is ready to be cooked whenever we may need it. Volunteers are able to prepare casseroles, pizzas, pasta dishes, burritos, soups, stews, meat and vegetable dishes, etc.

This volunteer opportunity can be scheduled daily from 9am-3pm. Please contact to learn more about this activity!

**We do require all volunteers to have their COVID vaccine and wear a mask at all times while in the House.

Mission Statement

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Iowa, Inc. Enriches the Quality of Life for Children and Their Families.

Helping a sick child fight their illness takes a big enough emotional toll on a family. Adding a financial strain can make it all almost too much to bear. RMHC can help address those problems, whether they involve housing that’s near a hospitalized child, the expense of staying together in another city, or even getting basic medical and dental care in a vulnerable community. In 2015, RMHC has local Chapters in 60 countries and regions with:

  • 353 Ronald McDonald House
  • 196 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms
  • 50 Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles
  • Grants to non-profit organizations that also focus on the needs of children
  • Scholarships to students across the United States
  • Chapters around the world creating country-specific programs
