Dubuque County Conservations Boards’s regular staff work throughout the week and often do programs on weekends. We sometimes need help to keep the Swiss Valley Nature Center open on the weekends. Hours are Saturday & Sunday 9am to 5pm year round. Weekend shifts could be the entire day or half day shifts. After proper training, volunteers provide center visitors with information about Swiss Valley's animals, exhibits, upcoming programs and trail conditions and more! Live animal presentations are a possibility if there is intrest. If your looking to spread your love of the outdoors to others this is the position for you!

Mission Statement
The mission of Dubuque County Conservation Board is to enhance the quality of life of our citizens by providing quality outdoor recreation facilities, environmental education and by promoting the long-term protection of Dubuque County's natural resources and heritage.
Description
The Dubuque County Conservation Board was created in 1957 after the citizens of Dubuque county voted to authorize its creation. The Dubuque County Conservation Board manages 17 different areas throughout the county totalling 2,394 acres. Those areas offer recreational opportunitues including camping, trails, picnking, boating access, golfing, fishing and hunting. Dubuque County Conservation also manages a 29 mile long multi-use recreational trail. It is primarily used by bicycle riders, hikers, runners, and snowmobilers. Swiss Valley Nature Center is the main headquaters of Dubuque County Conservation. The nature center has numerious interacive displays, live animals, and educational programs.
