Youth Program Assistants will work with program staff to prepare and set up for programs. They will also serve as an extra adult in the room during classes and assist with tear down, if applicable. Some assistants will not be needed in the classroom, but rather in preparation and set up.
The library needs volunteer assistants for:
B-PreK programs such as Family Place, Story Times, Toddler Times, Motion Stories, Programs for young children with special needs;
Programs in science, math, art, crafts, gardening and cooking for elementary age students,
Sensory storytimes and programs suited for children and adults with special needs,
Tween and Teen programs in coding, public speaking, gaming, cooking, movie nights
Adult programs such as film screenings, lectures, art and craft, coloring club, and book discussions on and off site,
Delivery assistants to take books to our satellite libraries in retirement communities
Volunteer assistants must have previous experience working with children and submit valid up-to-date copies of background checks (see more info on keepkidssafe.pa.gov) upon applying to be a volunteer program assistant. Must be able to lift 15lbs, have manual dexterity to cut with scissors and tie basic knots, volunteers in the classroom must be able to stand for long periods of time. Delivery assistants must be able to lift crates with books and comfortable arrange them on shelves.

Description
The Ephrata Public Library offers free access to information reflecting differing viewpoints in order to support an open and democratic society. The Library offers free classes to homeschoolers, public and private school students, adults and seniors in a wide variety of subject areas. EPL opened in 1964 and today circulates over 600,000 items per year, making it the largest circulating library facility in Lancaster County. The Library’s established service area encompasses the Ephrata Area School District though over 70% of its patrons live outside these municipalities. EPL serves an average of 1,200 people a day. The EPL is the first library in Lancaster County to host a skate park on its grounds and partners with local youth, retirement and community organizations through its programs and services.
