Volunteers are needed to serve as an ombudsman or advocate for local nursing home residents. The goal of the ombudsman program is to ensure the best possible quality of life in Texas long-term care facilities. While in the facility, the volunteer will talk with residents, family members and guests to identify any complaints or problem areas. Then, the volunteer will work with those individuals and the staff to resolve these issuses. Ombudsman also provide information about rights and procedures in or out of the facility. Locations are in Castroville, Devine, D'Hannis, Hondo, La Coste, Mico, Natalia, Rio Medina and Yancy.

  • Orientation or Training
  • Two hours per week. At least one year commitment.
