HEART of the Midlands, a rescue collaborative of Pawmetto Lifeline is searching for fosters for dogs coming out of the shelter while they wait for trasnport. Fostering is probably the most important step in a dogs journey from shelter to forever home! HEART dogs are rescued from the shelters here in the Midlands of SC by rescues all over the country. They need a place to crash before transporting. These dogs are all different sizes, breeds and ages. Pawmetto Lifeline provides all training, food and supplies, vet care as well as 24/7 support. Fostering can be for 2 weeks or longer depending on your schedule and availability. The need is critical so please contact us today to schedule your one hour training session. We welcome your questions!

Mission Statement
Pawmetto Lifeline is a non-profit animal welfare organization formed in 1999 to pro-actively address companion pet overpopulation in South Carolina through education, legislation, spay/neuter programs and responsible adoptions. Pawmetto Lifeline works closely with Lexington and Richland County Shelters in order to rescue animals from certain euthanasia.
Description
Founded in 1999 as Project Pet, Pawmetto Lifeline has been the conscience of compassion for the Midlands community and a vital area resource for humane care for our abandoned and homeless pets. Our legacy is devotion to responsible and compassionate care for the homeless animals of our community, and of fostering the animal-human bond. As we transition into our new home, we remain dedicated to the core principle that every life is precious and that euthanasia should not be used as a means to control a domesticated population.
Our Plan
Each year, more than 17,000 companion pets enter the municipal systems in Lexington and Richland Counties. More than 11,000 of these pets are euthanized. We have a moral and ethical obligation to care for and to extend the most compassionate and humane solution to the very problem that we have allowed to exist by not spaying and neutering our pets. We are implementing a solid plan employing specific, identified solutions - solutions that have been proven to work in other areas of the country.
