ORGANIZATION: The Delaware Valley Fairness Project

  • 4 people are interested

We are in need of one additional member for our Board of Directors. Delaware Valley Fairness Project is a young but growing nonprofit focused on the needs of the poor and marginalized, with special commitment to improving K-12 education available to disdvantaged and underprivileged children in the Delaware Valley.

The person for whom we are searching lives in the greater Philadelphia-Camden area and has both compassion for those in need and a passion to make life better for those in need. This person is willing and able to participate in the oversight of the organization, engage in fundraising efforts, and assist the President, when asked, at local events.

Delaware Valley Fairness Project values diversity and welcomes applications from women, minortities, people with disabilities, those suffering from discrimination. If you have an interest in what we do and have the time and skills to help, please contact us.

Mission Statement

to make life 'a little more fair' for people experiencing poverty, disadvantage and/or discrimination by enriching K-12 education, furthering innovative, sustainable efforts of people to better themselves and their communities, and, when resources allow, meeting emergency needs of individuals, families and small organizations serving our target populations.

Description

The Delaware Valley Fairness Project is a 501(c)(3) corporation working to improve opportunities for the underprivileged and people otherwise excluded from society's main stream. Our flagship program is our Education Assistance Program through which we provide supplies and funds for creative, sustainable learning opportunities in under-resourced K-12 schools and sponsor student events such as science fairs, art competitions, essay contests and the like in such schools. We also are launching a program to work collaboratively with other nonprofits to foster self-sufficiency among economically and socially disadvantaged people.
