The primary role of the volunteer is to prepare a meal for a group of 2-8 teens between the ages of 11-17. You do not need to be a professional, but you do need to have a love for food preparation and practice safe food handling. This position gives you the option to work with the clients and teach them how to properly prepare a meal, if their schedule allows them to participate, or you can prepare it yourself either at the facility or at home to drop off and heat-up later . A general meal plan will be provided to you to follow, however, if you would like to cook something special you will need to discuss it with the volunteer coordinator first and provide any special ingredients the meal calls for that we do not have.

Operation SafeHouse, with community support, provides emergency shelter, intervention and outreach services to runaway, homeless, and other youth in crisis. SafeHouse Offers youth positive alternatives to becoming victims of the streets.
Description
We are a shelter for youth at risk, in crisis, or a runaway. SafeHouse of the Desert will provide a critical alternative to young people whose lives are in turmoil. We have a 3 or 4 week program. Our 4 week program is our drug and alcohol program. Our goal is to keep the family unit together.
Age range is from 11 to 17.
