The National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) is the global leader in providing marrow and umbilical cord blood transplants to patients with leukemia, lymphoma, and other diseases. The nonprofit organization matches patients with donors, educates health care professionals, and conducts research so lives can be saved. The NMDP operates Be The Match(r), the world’s largest listing of potential marrow donors and donated cord blood units. People can join Be The Match Registry(r), contribute financially and volunteer. Patients and their families can also turn to Be The Match for support and resources before, during, and after transplant.
Key responsibilities for this internship, pertaining to the Patient Assistance Program and Post-Transplant Communications, include the following: * Understand and participate in existing work processes; develop suggestions for program improvement * Develop written processes and procedures; assist in forms management * Increase awareness of existing programs and their policies among our network centers * Create professional reports or presentations that provide analysis and insight into program activities Additional Responsibilities may include: * Develop suggestions for the creation of stories to highlight patients and families who have benefitted from the Patient Assistance Program. * Develop suggestions for an abstract for presentation at a professional conference describing program impact.
